Tomohisa Tobitsuka

TOBI:UNKNOWN is an ongoing handmade dummybook project by Tomohisa Tobitsuka,
based in Tokyo, Japan.

Since 2022, the project has developed through a growing series of handmade photobook dummies. These books are not sold, but circulate through lending, exchange, and direct encounters. Each dummybook is treated as a physical sequence: a place where photographs, traces of gaze, memory, and time are gathered into a book.

Rather than presenting photography as isolated images, TOBI:UNKNOWN explores how photographs remain, move, and change meaning through editing, handling, circulation, and time.
