Zheng Zhao is an Artist, Photographer, Poet, and Dreamer.
She was born next to a railway in a small city in northern China, grew up in Beijing, and studied in the small town of Savannah in the southern United States. Throughout her life, she has been fascinated by images and how to portray the abstract world in her eyes through concrete images. Her interest was nurtured at her university, and further developed when she chose MFA in Photography. She has a deeper understanding and has researched of China's unique culture. She incorporated her cultural background into many of her later works, making it full of unique charm.
As an artist, the subjective world is more important than the objective world. As if the work is her outfit, she uses it to present her inner thoughts. The theme of her recent work is to explore the contradiction between personal identity and social identity from her own perspective. She deconstructed herself by investigating her body, cultural background, and childhood experience. Does her body, background, and appearance represent the "real" her? This project allowed her to discover and explore herself, but in fact, she has been changing. Just as "people cannot step into the same river twice", she cannot stop her change. At the same time, her understanding of herself has been changing. Therefore, she may spend her whole life working on this project.
