My name is Aggelos Barai, I am an Albanian photojournalist, living in Athens, Greece.
My work focuses mainly on political and social issues, migration, the effect of the ongoing economical crisis in the Greek society and the rediscovering of my birth country, Albania.
My parents came to Greece as economical migrants, I was two when they left Albania.
In order to sustain myself, I worked as an assistant photographer with some of the most important Greek photographers such as Yannis Kontos, Maro Kouri, Dimitris Bouras.
Afterwards, to build up my career as a photographer, I started collaborating with various Greek newspapers and magazines.
I wanted to go further and fulfill my desire of picturing life and people, so I started collaborating with national and international Non-governmental organizations such as The smile of the child, Amnesty International, Greenpeace as much as local collectivities and initiatives.
By collecting experiences and knowledge, I work now as a freelance photojournalist for online media in Greece and abroad.
Some of my pictures are distributed by photo agencies and above everything, I am focusing on personal projects regarding Albania and migration in Greece.
