Please note that I use the 'non de plume' Alain Louis Camus for my photography. My birth name is Alain Francois and all of the images submitted are my own wok. Although I have studied photography, I do not consider myself a professional photographer.
I took my first photograph at the age of seven. My uncle was visiting us in Switzerland and I could not take my eyes off his Rolei camera. My parents subsequently bought me my first camera a Kodak Instamatic, which I took with me when we immigrated to Australia in 1965. I faithfully recorded our trip to Australia from aboard the ship. Many years later, as a teenager, I bought my first SLR and shot mostly black and white film. I shot a lot of film, made many mistakes and learned a lot about lighting, composition and how to manipulate the camera's settings to suit the result I was after.
I studied at the Queensland College of Art for the undergraduate degree in photography and then 3 years later majored in cinematography at the same institution in the film and television production stream.
