Alfonso is a self-taught photographer originally from Madrid, Spain. He now calls Melbourne home where he practices as a Dermatologist. He is one of the previous grand prize winners of the prestigious Head On Festival Awards in 2015 and a finalist of the London based Travel Photographer of the Year in the same year. In 2017, he was a finalist in the Top Emerging Australian Photographer of the Year Awards, the Sienna International Photo Awards (SIPA), the International Photo Awards(IPA) and the Tokyo International Photo Awards.
Alfonso has traveled to India on several occasions for his first long term project on Hinduism, visiting some of the holiest cities in India. Forced to pause his travels due to the COVID pandemic, Alfonso turned his camera towards Melbourne, and is currently working on a project called “Kind of Blue” that arises from creating something intimate and personal and seeking a connection with the city he lives in. In 2024, his portfolio “Kind of Blue” was also selected as one Descubrimientos PhotoEspana (Discoveries PhotoEspana).
