A graphic designer by trade, I left the UK several years ago to travel and volunteer in Southeast Asia. I originally become interested in photography three years ago whilst working as a graphic designer for Free The Bears an organisation that raises funds for projects supporting bear conservation and rescue in Cambodia and Southeast Asia. Beginning with a weekend course and going on to photography workshop around Cambodia.
From initial interest in travel photography I would say that my work has developed into social documentary, capturing the moment and documenting small snippets of time in a persons life. With portraiture, I love to spend time and engage with the people to get a feeling of their spirit before taking my photos, this is as enjoyable for me as the process itself. I love emerging myself into the culture of a place and hopefully making people feel comfortable with my presence so that I am almost invisible when I shoot. For me it’s all about the people, without the people there is no heart or soul….
