About AMANUEL SILESHI

Amanuel Sileshi is a photojournalist based in Ethiopia currently working for AFP as a stringer . He Graduated From Addis Ababa University as a Mechanical Engineering but while at the middle of his study he fell in love with photography After seeing a photo which was taken in Paris in 1989 by Elliott Erwitt.

He loves documenting the change and effect that humanity brings regarding with conflicts, wars, political and economic reforms.

His works have been published in many International publications like NYT, The economist, The Guardian, El pias, The irish times, Finical times, WSJ, Washigton post.

He says "Photojournalism has a huge responsibility for the photographer to testify and document the stories by really being in that moment ”

He also participated in the 2021 edition of the Canon Student Development Programme, a bespoke education programme dedicated solely to students with a clear commitment to photography, with a focus on visual storytelling.

Since he started pursuing a career in photography he received Awards that highlighted his projects
