Working for more than a decade in the food and beverage industry to find her culinary voice, Andrea Acosta found it while working as a Pastry Chef. Her career evolved even further when she took a job as a cake decorator. This aspect of the culinary world reminded her of her childhood hobbies of design, photography, and art. Wanting to revisit those interests, she decided to go back to school. Acosta quickly found out how the conceptual practices in a professional kitchen, were similar to art practices in a studio or workshop. This has expanded her knowledge as she uses different mediums such as: wood, glass, photographs and inks. Acosta hopes to someday join in on the conversation of craft versus fine art by fusing her two passions, food and art. But for now, she is working towards her Bachelor of Arts- Studio Art degree at San Jose State University, and has begun a new search to find another voice: as a visual artist.
