Andrea Alai is a 33 years old Italian Documentary Photographer based in Milan. He has a Degree in International Economics that gave him the tools to deeper understand how different societies and economies work throughout the world.
He taught himself photography attending mentorship programs and workshops with renowned photographers and industry professionals around the world like Darcy Padilla, MaryAnne Golon, Santiago Lyon, Kadir Van Lohuizen, Christopher Morris, etc.
In 2018 was awarded with the first prize at the International Andrei Stenin Photo Contest in the Sport category, with a series about the phenomenon of Italian hooliganism. In 2018 he was finalist in the Lodi World Report Award in the single shot category. In November 2018 he was selected to take part of the NikonNOOR Academy, in Budapest.
In 2019 he was shortlisted in the Belfast Photo Festival. He was finalist in the Lodi World Report award in both Master and Short Story category. He won the first prize in the category “Inspiration” at the Andrei Stenin Award and received a Jury honorable mention for his Argentine series “Si se puede”. He is a winner in the 2019 PDN Emerging Photographers contest.
He has been selected for the Eddie Adams Workshop Class XXXII.
He is currently working in Italy but often travels to Latin America.
