Before his death at the age of 79, Bill Brandt assembled into book form his early body of London photographs taken during the thirties. His interest in social realism produced one of the most powerful sets of photographs about class distinctions yet seen. His classic books The English at Home and London at Night, long out-of-print and highly prized collector's items, gave his now famous view of pre-war Britain. London in the Thirties makes many of these famous photographs available once again.
