A stunning monograph containing Hockney's SX-70 Polaroid collages and photocollages. For several years now, Hockney has explored the use of multiple perspectives of scenes or people, editing them together to form cubist-like collages. In doing so, he uses as many as a hundred or more photographs that form a grid-like construction of his favorite subjects: friends, pools, still lifes and landscapes. Hockney says that these are "pictures that describe how we see--not all at once, but in discrete, separate glimpses. . . to synthesize a living impression."
