Publisher's Description
After literally turning the dominant photographic style on it side, Rodchenko emersed himself in this extended project, photographing Moscow for a celebratory publication in 1932. Ironically his portrait was never endorsed by the Soviets and sixty-five years later his vintage prints, unearthed, are the source of this fine monograph. Tupitsyn's text explores the development of Rodchenko's style and its relationship to Parisian photographers, other members of the Eastern European avant-garde, and the importance of development of Moscow itself.
