No Face (German Edition)

No Face is the third important publication by Uwe Kempen, following “Voyeur” and “Intim”. The present book bears witness to an increasingly abstract tendency in Kempen’s work. This innovation is due to the use of a special film, capable of showing the finest graphic details, and to the technically perfected work in the studio. Thematically, “No Face” does not treat, as the title might suggest, the female models as pure objects, but offers many different ways of interpretation and association. Views of skin, close-ups, piercings, tattoos and other details, like the pattern of fishnet stockings, suggest forms that are often floral (for example the series “Flowers”). Through the experimental use of light and a direct focus on the motif, the pictures have a light and direct character.
