The latest monograph from Berlin-based installation artist/photographer Eva Maria Ocherbauer, whose unique vision focuses on the random encounters between human beings and inanimate objects. By selectively isolating a single form in her photographic frame, or ripping an image out of a photo and letting it float against a pure white background, the Austrian-born artist creates surreal dialogues with everyday items and anonymous faces taken almost entirely out of context, La Vie et La Mort - Life and Death - is a remarkable document that plays with scale, emphasis, time and color, posing far more questions about image and reality than it answers.
