Summer

Thirty-seven of America's well-loved writers, including Alice Adms, Roy Blount, Jr., Louise Erdrich, Calvin Trillin and John Updike, celebrate this season along with fifty renowned photographers and artists. Some of these artists are Robert Adams, David Hockney, Edward Hopper and Dorothy Low. For John Updike, summer is "a land of ice cream and baseball and beach picnics and outdoor concerts, of freedom felt in the body itself."
