Publisher's Description
Sommer's careful study of the language of musical notation was prompted by the graphic beauty of displayed musical scores--something he discovered during a museum visit in 1934. His own work on writing musical scores began immediately afterward and was pursued throughout the length of his life. In 1968 a public performance of his music was given. That performance has been digitally remastered and reproduced on CD and is included along with 19 loose sheets of his scores in this wonderful tribute to one of the twentieth century's greatest photographers.
