Skin Flowers

In 1930s Paris, an unidentified doctor and amateur photographer created images of the tattooed men that his practice allowed him to encounter. His photographs, by necessity made in the old autochrome process, are now as mysterious and beautiful as the ornamentation adorning the bodies of his foreign legionnaires, ex-convicts, artists, and sailors.
