Araki has already made many Tokyo Novels. This book, part of the biography series, lays out the artist's central endeavour to make an amoral portrait of Tokyo. His constant contrasting of cityscapes with sexuality is played out here with even more images of the banal--signs, feet walking, alleys--very occasionally give way to excessive debauchery, including a visit to a Tokyo sex club.
