Masataka Nakano: My Lost America

Since first visiting America in 1977, Masataka Nakano, has returned repeatedly, photographing cities and people in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. When he visited New York for the last time in 2006 the desire to photograph did not arise as the city and people had changed too dramatically. The colour photographs that fill every page of this book are then a slice of America that has slowly disappeared, yet draw on iconic and timeless images of people captured on the street, empty spaces, billboards and signage, streetscapes, parks and Cadillac’s and Chevrolets.
