Photographer Frantisek Drtikol

The most comprehensive volume available on this mysterious avant-garde photographer. Drtikol was the first Czech photographer to gain international recognition, yet he twice filed for bankruptcy and died in obscurity. Presidents, statesmen, artists and business executives all had their portraits made in his studio, and only in the past decade has his visionary photography been examined more closely. He was multi-talented, charismatic, mystically inclined and known for his modernist nude studies. A fascinating man and a wonderful book.
