The 42nd annual world press awards annual features the best in international photojournalism from the year 1998. Over 170 pictures were chosen from more than 3,700 photographers representing 116 countries. These prizewinning photographs capture some of the most powerful, moving, and sometimes disturbing news stories of the year.
