Roy Villevoye: Detours (Films, Photographic Works, Installations)

A retrospect of Villevoye’s work incorporating photographs, video stills and installation works. Charting back to the early 1990s this survey highlights the artist’s approach which is situated in a search for a form of authenticity – understood as a basic human quality. His works comprise elements drawn from repeated visits to New Guinea and investigate colonial history, visual culture and the confusions and fascinations that underlie interactions where cultures meet. Illustrated throughout, with full-page colour photographs and video stills, the publication includes several essays.
