On Self-Portrait: Through the Looking-Glass

Elizabeth Taylor, Frida Kahlo, Jane Fonda, Mao and Charlie Chaplin are just a few of the identities appropriated by Morimura for his hybrid self-portraits produced over the course of his long career. Based on a sizeable exhibition of Polaroid photographs presented along with a selection of his large-scale, finished images, this catalogue – published in close collaboration with the artist – contains an overview of his oeuvre and lays bare Morimura’s process of creation for the first time.
