Delaney is evidently a photographer who likes to work without being watched -- his London is a city of shadows, almost uninhabited -- despite the flood of humanity that overburdens the streets by day. While the presence of Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge and St. Paul's Cathedral lend a familiarity, the city is almost unrecognizable in these strange, stark images that give it a quiet beauty; do not look for these pictures to appear in travel brochures any time soon.
