Anja de Jong has travelled the world compiling a photographic investigation into no-man's lands, the hybrid areas that link natural and man-made landscapes.

The book shows 58 black-and-white and 3 colour photographs from Anja de Jong. Alongside these images, the authors Bernlef and Jan Brokken reflect on the borderland landscape from their own experience, scenic connoisseur Rik Herngreen writes about the perception of landscape in The Netherlands and art historian Tineke de Ruiter gives The Borderland Project a place in the photographic portrayal of the landscape. All texts are written in English as well as in Dutch.
