·in venire·

·in venire·

by Werner A. Schöffel

An interested public is already familiar with Werner Schöffel’s photographic work. ·in venire· is his second publication, and like its predecessor ·WIND·, continues to document his artistic work. ·in venire· is set apart by having been created without the use of camera and film, and without any pre-defined approach to colour. The work employs minimal methods of digital image capture and presents many examples of an aesthetic at the edge of the digital age. This book has been created at a time that stands between classical photography and digitisation. Yet the pictures of this book are deliberately not retouched, assembled or manipulated by the artist. In times where everything seems to be valid, and yet nothing seems to be true, we often question the very reality of things. The digital technique is well known for being dynamic – everything seems to be changeable and changed. In fact, the one certainty of the digital age is that there is no truth in pictures anymore. Isn’t this the chance for photography to again recapture lost artistic intentions?
