by yako (Jean-Christophe Yacono)

I contacted some choreographers to offer them my perspective on their gestures and vocabulary. Here are some dance images, captured during rehearsals or performances that allow me to think and work, with dancers in "place of the shooting device (operator, camera, performer) in a performance". I say "in" as I would say "from the inside", in opposition to "frontal posture of the public or the photographer when he or she documents".

How can this viewpoint be integrated into the choreography? Should this viewpoint exist for the viewer or must it be disembodied? How can energy and movement be felt or experienced in a single shot?
