Half the Sky—a companion publication to the exhibition—showcases a much wider selection of work from women street photographers, artists whose images are framed via a throughline from their own feminine worldview, experiences, and emotional essence.
The photographs present different approaches to street photography: from street portraits to unmanipulated reflection to personal investigation of cities around the world, just to name a few. They are as varied as women are.
Street photography documents humanity at a moment in time, but it does more than that. Life in the street is merely a starting point for the construction of a more intimate viewpoint. It is art—coming from and stimulating the imagination—reflecting the artist, whatever their gender, more than the subject.
