Unsustainable Earth

This volume (bilingual English/German) presents a curated selection of recent photographic works by Marcel van Beek, stemming from and expanding upon the exhibition 'Unsustainable Earth' (2023) hosted by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig. The artist engages with the defining sustainability challenges of our time—including industrial agriculture, water scarcity, biodiversity loss, and climate change. By bridging the gap between scientific observation and aesthetic inquiry, van Beek creates a compelling visual discourse on the anthropogenic impact on our planet and the urgent need for ecological transition.
