The Days Gone Past (self-published, 2022; Winner, Photobook Category — Belfast Photo Festival, 2023) is a photographic exploration of nostalgia, memory, and identity, blending documentary portraiture with fashion imagery. Inspired by the family photo albums common in Chinese households, the work moves across four chapters — Hometown, On the Road, The Stranger, and Farewell — travelling from intimate personal memories of a Chinese upbringing to the restless longing for belonging that shapes identity across cultures and geographies, before arriving at a collaborative final chapter that weaves documentary and fashion to evoke shared memory. At once intimate and universal, the book offers viewers a space to rediscover themselves in the images and memories of others.
