Gisele Freund: Photographer

Gisèle Freund fled her native Germany in 1933 and settled in Paris. Later she became an internationally known photojournalist for Life magazine and Magnum, the New York picture agency. Included in this autobiographical monograph are portraits of Sartre, Joyce, Nabokov, Eliot, Colette, Cocteau, Bonnard, Duchamp, Woolf, Shaw, and many other famous European artists and writers. Also included is street documentation of pre-war Germany and of Paris and London of the thirties.
