A Kentucky Album: Farm Security Administration Photographs, 1935-1943

This book gathers Farm Security Administration photographs of special historical and social importance to the state of Kentucky. The editors have chosen work by such photographers as Ben Shahn, Marion Post Wolcott, Russell Lee, John Vachon, and Arthur Rothstein to form a composite portrait of their state during the Depression and the early years of World War II. Kentuckian rural life, religious customs, social gatherings, education, cities and towns, transportation, coal mining, and domestic life are all eloquently portrayed in these photographs.
