One of the leading documentary photographers of this generation, Mary Ellen Mark's work has appeared in books and magazines for the last 25 years. This book combines many of Mark's classic images with a new group of largely unpublished photographs taken of the circus in India. Marianne Fulton explores Mark's life and work in the opening essay. The publication of this book coincides with a major traveling exhibition of Mark's work organized by Fulton at the International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House.
