Outcroppings is primarily a blend of exerpts from three of John McPhee's books on the West-Basin and Range, Rising from the Plains, and Encounters with the Archdruid accompanied by western scenic views taken by the photographer, Tom Till. It gives a new entrance into McPhee's vision of the West.
