Tropism

Known for his enigmatic, high contrast images, Ralph Gibson developed a distinct style of elegant and spare surrealism in the 1960s and 1970s. His famous books The Somnambulist, Déjà Vu, and Days at Sea developed an almost cult-like following. Tropism is a definitive retrospective of Gibson's work, published to coincide with the 1987 exhibition held at the International Center of Photography in New York.
