In 1953 Paul Strand traveled with much acclaimed neo-realist screen writer Cesare Zavattini to the small Italian village of Luzarra to document the life in the quickly changing old world. This classic study has never before been available in English, and has long been out of print. Aperture's splendid reprint has been prepared almost entirely from Strand's original vintage prints and keeps the original book's format.
