Judy Coleman uses a fascinating technique of image manipulation to form her expressive nude studies. A student of dance, Coleman choreographs physical gestures against a foreground and backdrop of visual disruptions. She writes, "It is not that I'm trying to understand myself and talk about my own limited experience of the world. Rather, I use myself generically in an effort to express a more objective statement." Distantly related to the work of Man Ray and André Kertész, Coleman's surrealist vision and technical experimentation eloquently express the diversity of human emotions and dilemmas.
