Troubled Land: The Social Landscape of Northern Ireland

The third book by English photographer Paul Graham concentrates on land and cityscapes of Northern Ireland, showing with understatement, the small but persistent signs of deep political unrest within the region. From grafitti paint spelling out IRA to political signs and flags, Graham gives us a perspective of the land seldom seen. No out-and-out violence is shown here, just the subtle reminders of a land troubled with seemingly unending political turmoil and division. Each of these color photographs includes these reminders in a straight, documentary fashion to give us a real look at the day-to-day landscape of Northern Ireland. Highly recommended.
