Warworks: Women, Photography and the Iconography of War

Noted curator and photographic historian Val Williams has compiled this group of war images by women photographers, employing them to illustrate five excellent essays she has written on the subject. Photographers include Lee Miller, Rachel Lichtenstein, Martha Rosler, Anna Fox, Deborah Bright, Barbara Alper, and Moira McIver. The images themselves are exquisitely reproduced, and are a powerful example of war imagery as seen by women. An important and fascinating book.
