This book is a collection of one hundred pseudo-historical portraits made by Peter Greenaway during the making of his film, The Baby of Mâcon. The subjects are extras from the film, and each portrait has been captioned with a fictional account of who they are. The book is a study in theatrical suspension of disbelief.
