Power and Paper: Margaret Bourke-White, Modernity, and the Documentary Mode: Exhibition and Catalogue

In 1937 Margaret Bourke-White was commissioned by the International Paper Company to document its newsprint manufacturing operations in Western Canada, an appropriate project for one of the picture press's leading photographers. Power and Paper is a close reading of the work she produced for them, fleshing out the variety of techniques and styles she employed and their place in the language of documentary.
