"It takes an iron nerve to perceive the connection between the promise of life implicit in eroticism and the sensuous aspect of death."--George Bataille. This nerve becomes apparent by looking at the work of Jeffrey Silverthorne whose endeavours include photographing corpses in the local morgue. Beautiful, disturbing and horrifying these images remind us of the thin line that separates our fragile life from its inevitable demise and separates fear from eroticism. Other work included here deals with issues of sex, privacy, and life at the outer extremes.
