This is one of the most incredible collections of medical photographs from the turn of the century. Reproducing the images in color, to simulate the actual appearance of the originals, the book covers three sections: outer manifestations of disease, mental illnesses, and internal afflictions. It illustrates some of the earliest x-ray images, as well as reproducing some handcolored photographs which were used to enhance the portrayal of certain skin diseases. A fascinating and important element of the history of photography.
