La route du Tokaido =: [Tokaido gojisantsugi no uchi] (French Edition)

In this ambitious project, Thierry Girard follows the historic 17th century route from Kyoto to Edo--the city that would become Tokyo--photographing the 54 stations made famous by Hiroshige in his woodcuts from 1834. Working with large format color photographs, this artist has located the original sites, now undeniably altered by the exigencies of time. As much a comment on the changes that time can effect as it is a captivating conceptual project.
