Ueli Stilli captures the Third World in a kind of images that are rarely to be seen; everyday scenarios in cities and villages, people working, families at home. No wars, no catastrophes, but also no sentimental children’s portraits. Stilli travelled Latin America, Asia, and Africa for more than forty years, always with a keen eye for the people and their way of living. His mode of documentation is peaceful and unadorned, consisting of instantaneous shots that invite the viewer to stop and reflect on the realities behind the images.
