FestFoto – International Festival of Photography of Porto Alegre – Brazil, is an annual event dedicated to Photography and Art, using the multimedia tools to show photograph works and to promote artists and connect them to curators, art-book publishers, art-dealers, photo-galerys, festivals and all main protagonists on the worldwide scenario of photography. Through an artistic environment that offers to photographers opportunities to take part on portfolio reviews, workshops and public lectures of important names of contemporary photography, FestFoto is committed to connect people on territory of global photography.
Throughout its existence with seven editions, FestFoto has going deep on two actions that defined it’s profile: being a festival that bet on new technologies as a way to display , dissemination and democratization of access to the production of contemporary photography and the pursuit and maintenance of visual memory at public archives as cultural heritage . During this almost a decade we worked in actions that sought a role of service provider , adding and gathering segments in related areas of art and photography, causin the interaction and networking for exchanging experience to provide young artists and photographers space to find paths , markets and directions.
Since its second edition in 2008, FestFoto International Portfolio Review provided this interaction and learning for photographers and in 2011 FestFoto definitely entered in the international circuit of portfolio reviews with the main support of FotoFest/Houston and also working with Encuentros Abiertos de Buenos Aires. This network has going even farther, with new partnership of FotoFest/LensCulture/ParisPhoto Portfolio Review. Participating in FestFoto Porto Alegre International Portfolio Review , Brazilian photographers were able to gain support to have their work to be seen at festivals such as FotoFest / Houston , Encuentros Abiertos Buenos Aires , Jornadas of Montevideo/Uruguai , FotoFest / LensCulture / ParisPhoto Portfolio Review that created an opening of commercial and artistic paths for these photographers, and take their works to festivals in Switzerland , Russia, England , France, Spain and the United States .
