Chanell Stone, born 1992, is an emerging artist working in photography based in Oakland, CA. Originally from Los Angeles, she relocated to Oakland, to complete her BFA at the California College of the Arts. It is here that she became influenced by the social criticality and historic weight of a photograph. Her practice focuses on challenging insular views of Blackness by expanding on narratives subject to Black erasure. This avidity has led her to explore the Black body’s connection to nature throughout her practice.
