Christopher Schmitt is an emerging lens-based artist residing in Centretown Ottawa, on unceded Algonquin Anishinaabe territory. My research interest is humanity's relationship with the land within the lens of the technology that has become inextricably connected with our lives. Schmitt's work is informed through his 30+ year career in high-tech and a deep interest in science and technology.
Schmitt's images have been published in Do It For the Grain, Ottawa Photography and Art Label (OPAL), and PhotoEd Magazine. His photograph "Rooftop Resort" was purchased by the City of Ottawa in 2021, and he has been chosen to exhibit work from his Convergence Series at Corridor 45/75 in 2023.
