Elena Helfrecht is a visual artist currently based in London.
Born out of a necessity to express her thoughts, she chose photography as her preferred medium during her teenage years. Her practice explores the human consciousness, often through raw self-reflection. She conceptually exposes internal discourses and transforms psychological processes into a visible reality, enabling the viewer to access objective issues through a subjective mind.
While using her own body as an instrument, she also preserves peoples' experiences and mindsets, using the skin in her pictures as a sensory and subordinate element pointing to the invisible impelling force enveloped by flesh and bones.
Hailing from a background of Art History, where she completed her bachelor's degree in 2015, she studies for her master in photography at the Royal College of Art since 2017.
