After working in and studying fashion photography, I have found more meaning in the fine art photography world in its ability to communicate and express deeper artistic and emotional landscapes.Eliza Bourner started her photography in the world of fashion, studying fashion photography as a BA and working in fashion photography in Paris for several years. She then moved to London with a drive to pursue a more conceptual and artistic practice, studying an MA at the University of the Arts.
Her work explores an emotional reaction to struggles of loneliness, disconnection and alienation in contemporary culture. Carrying a loose narrative, the images leave room for subjective interpretation on our inner emotional landscapes, the complex relationships we have with ourselves and the human condition.
Working alone, she plays the role of photographer, model, set designer and stylist to create atmospheric mise-en-scenes.
